HELD IN STONE:
SAUNA AND BATHS
ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN CORE STUDIO II
SPRING 2025

Pudding stone is made of pebbles and other materials deposited by the tide or wind, held together by sediment. The pebbles and sediment can erode, leaving craters in the pudding stone. The arrangement of sauna, changing rooms, and showers is encapsulated by a wooden deck just as sediment holds pebbles together. The baths reflect the geometries of the sauna and shower structures, removed from the deck as a crater would be left in a stone.
